A workshop on e-accessibility for disabled persons in Russia was held as a UN Country Team joint advocacy project with the support of the World Bank on 15 June.

The welcoming remarks were made by Mr. Klaus Rohland, Country Director for the RF, World Bank and Mr. Marco Borsotti, UN Resident Coordinator in the RF and UNDP Resident Representative. The event attracts NGOs, associations of disabled persons, Russian government circles and ICT companies’ representatives.

Dmitry Shaytan from GRAViTONUS team participated in this workshop and made his contribution to the discussions with a Russia wide project of e-education for motor impaired handicapped people as a measure to significantly reduce the poverty in families of handicapped people in regions of Russia and establish new jobs. In the Chairman’s Summary, participants supported the proposal to set up, under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia, a working group on e-accessibility for disabled persons, and a number of other ideas.
